For My Mentor

It’s hard to ask for help
when the room already doubts
you belong in it.

In this field
where being her
often means being alone,
you didn’t shrink my voice.
You handed me a blueprint
and said let's build.

And in that moment,
you gave me more
than advice
or answers—

you gave me
the rare gift
of being taken seriously.

You stood beside me—
not over me,
a quiet nod
that said you belong here
before I believed it.

And that changed
everything.

All He Had To Give

I sit on a park bench,
crying without knowing why.

People walk by, look the other way,
as if sadness might be contagious.

Then a voice, rough but warm:
Are you okay?

I blink away tears,
see his torn coat,
the forest in his beard,
and weathered eyes
heavy with burdens greater than mine.

Nothing to give but kindness,
and somehow, it was everything.

Finding Myself

In 2021, I was someone else.
All I wanted was a few seconds
of sanity, peace
before the ending.

The sky was filled with
jumbled constellations
with missing stars
that didn't make sense.

Maybe I was naive,
but I thought the world
should be kind.

I've learned the world
doesn't owe me any more
than a chance to breathe.

The rest is there
for me to find.

Strength

In the quiet corners of her soul,
lies a darkness she can't break through.
Her cries echo off of empty walls,
a tearful song that no one else can hear.

Happiness once cherished, a forgotten ghost,
its silent shadow her constant companion.
The weight of betrayal, of stolen innocence,
hidden behind an artificial smile.

Then he appears, with kindness and light,
sensing the fractures beneath her facade.
A reassuring hand, steady, unwavering.
An angel's heart to heal her broken soul,
their crossing paths a gift from the universe.

A new chapter, a rebirth.
Through him she finds strength in moments of weakness.
Not in grand gestures or hollow words,
but in simple acts of kindness and understanding,
the quiet constancy of friendship's gentle presence.

Working side-by-side, through laughter and tears,
she learns that courage isn't fearlessness,
but leaning on someone when the world feels uncertain.
She discovers strength in her vulnerability,
and a new dawn emerges.

She finds the courage to walk out of the darkness,
his friendship a gentle reminder that sometimes,
in the darkest of nights,
the most beautiful stars appear.
