First Christmas Without

The lights on the tree twinkle softly,
casting shadows on walls that remember joy.
Christmas music permeates the air,
but the melodies seem dissonant,
blue notes falling hollow,
out of rhythm, frozen in time.

An empty chair,
in a quiet room,
where laughter once echoed.

But beneath the heartbreak,
hope lingers,
whispering softly
that even in the bluest of winters,
love remains.
