It Wasn't My Fault

The face in the mirror
says it out loud.
I don't believe her.

You didn't say no.
I didn't have a voice.

You didn't resist.
I didn't know I could.

You could have run.
I didn't know where to go.

You could have asked for help.
I didn't know who to trust.
Anymore.

You could have screamed.
I did.
No one came.

It wasn’t my fault.
It wasn’t my fault.

It wasn’t my fault.

The face in the mirror
starts to cry.

If only she knew
how hard I’m trying
to believe her.
