I Saw My Grandfather Last Night

He sat at the kitchen table,
in the chair with the loose leg
he never got around to fixing.

He poured us coffee,
looked at my face, smiled,
but said nothing.

I reached for his hand,
the same strong curve
that taught mine to hold on,
and I felt his warmth.

I woke up crying.
