My friend and mentor who leads the support group back home has been telling me for years that my poems would help other girls going through what I went through. Then I heard the same from the woman who runs the healing home where I volunteer. I guess I needed to hear it enough times before it sunk in, and it finally did.
All proceeds from the book will be donated to Butterfly House, a home
for young girls healing from sexual abuse. I'm not expecting a
best-seller here or anything, but they'd sure appreciate the donation
and would put it to good use.
If you've been reading my blog, you know I don't write poetry for poets - so if
you're looking for poems that fit the classic "poetry" mold, you won't
find them here. These poems are for people who have been through hell and are
still finding their way home, or maybe just need to know they're not
alone as they walk the path to healing. I've always referred to my poetry as "my diary with line breaks"
- and this is it, in book form. Maybe something in these pages will help someone
find hope, and that's all I really want.
